Why do I need hosting?

Your website needs to be hosted somewhere so that people can visit it. If you were just using a hard drive on your computer, then only you could access the files on it—and only when you have access to your computer.

Hosting makes sure that everyone can see your site, no matter where they are or what device they’re using (computer, phone, tablet).

In theory, you could make your computer publicly available so anyone can access your website. But we don’t think we need to explain why this is a bad idea, right?
