Plugin Update

Updating your plugins is essential to keep your website up and running safely.

Many minor updates are related to bug fixes and security reasons. They tend to improve your website’s overall performance. But, some updates can also cause issues, especially related to compatibility with other plugins.

Plugins are created by third-party developers, like Tangible. Some of them work full-time to create these plugins for the WordPress ecosystem, and some do it as a side gig. As a result, update releases are a little bit unpredictable.

Therefore, while it’s advisable to always update your plugins, you may take a look at the release note to see if it’s a minor update or not.

For example, you might choose to update an essential plugin outside the time your users are more frequent. In case of any incompatibility or issue, you can work to fix it without (many) people noticing it.

Unless the version details specifically say ‘security update’, you can wait for some days before updating the plugin. By then, any errors have usually been caught, reported, and fixed. If your website has heavy traffic, then we recommend you do the same.

To update your plugins, you can use the Dashboard Update page or the Installed Plugins page.
